The default Pygments theme was greenish overall, which is off-theme;
this makes it more pink-and-purplish (surely not an optimal palette,
but a low-hanging improvement during fifteen minutes of not being
brave enough to actually write).
It's only early evening; let's do another solid session of drafting
before tonight's Advent of Code puzzle release!! I really want to just
be finished with this!
"Sexual Dimorphism": ELTE and the limits of medicine, lean low scope
As you can see from the shoveling, I'm not sure how long I want to
make the coda—this is already a long post, so maybe it shouldn't be
exhaustive on threats to the great common task, but just focus on the
case that I'm not alone, and I shouldn't be alone.
Now that I don't have to do ragequit post set to Sara Bareilles, I
might want to extract some of the points that were written for that,
into the present endeavor
back-anchors ("Changing Emotions" links (5x), and Murray pt. II)
I'm a little worried about whether readers actually understand this
"linking to a hidden anchor in an arbitrary paragraph in the middle of
a post" technique? (If you just see the new tab of the old post
scrolled halfway down, it may not be obvious which part I'm trying to
direct you to without a section header to make it clearer.) But it
still seems better than not-doing it? I love my links.
Is this thought-dumping bad writing? How am I going to edit this
monster? And yet doesn't it, despite everything, beat the alternative?
(The blog is over four years old; at least I'm getting things said
that I somehow didn't get around to in four years.)
I've had this sitting in the images directory forever—might as
well. (I'm not even particularly familiar with the manga, which I only
read a few borrowed books of in middle school! But—it's famous enough
to be a touchstone, to take part of my pen name from.)

Okay, I figured out where and how I want to close this off! I still
have a lot of writing to do to fill in all those TODO-labeled gaps,
and a lot of editing after that, but this is a nice
skeleton—especially the pelvis.
It looks like I have three more straightforward minor posts to fit in
the pipeline before "Sexual Dimorphism": the 2020 Haskell survey data
is up, the /r/DrWillPowers threads shouldn't be that hard to
summarize, and I know why my first draft of "Crossing the Line" is
floppy. After "Sexual Dimorphism", I can turn to the finalization of
my philosophy-of-language thesis on the robot-cult blog, and then I'll
finally be free (or free to switch back to the gender war with "Trans
Kids on the Margin")
check in: towards a November (bottom half) blog activity burst?
Activity on The Scintillating But Ultimately Untrue Thought is
sometimes "bursty", as I devote attention to the blog (in weeks that
my writing attention isn't focused on Less Wrong), as in April 2020
and December 2019. Maybe November 2019 will be another one of those,
capped by "Sexual Dimorphism" (if I can buckle down and finish it)?
Sometimes the motivation to backlink something from a big post
inspires small posts; for example, the reason I bothered to blog my
old stray thought about the reverse Murray rule is because I thought
it would be funny to backlink it from my Human Diversity review. The
Haskell survey data is similar: I left a Reddit comment about the 2018
survey

but I want a proper post specifically for the "These days, most of the
women" line in "Sexual Dimorphism". The Sapir–Whorf paper is cool and
on-theme but also specifically would make a good backlink in the
"Harms From Misleading Training Data" effortpost on my horizon.
But my audience isn't going to be reading this Git commit message;
they're going to be reading the blog. Let's go! Already.
Ordinarily I would go to great lengths to avoid breaking links by
changing slugs without a redirect solution, but who links to a filler
linkpost? Nobody! Nobody in the whole blogosphere has linked to this!
(I think this can basically be published whenever, but I'm not
thinking about scheduling now, I need to write "Sexual Dimorphism" in
the dying hours of this tragic Sunday)
