the server—a stunning innovation.
The vision is a "loose" trilogy (three related posts, but that can be
read independently): "Sexual Dimorphism" about my experiences,
"Blanchard's Dangerous Idea" on why it seems plausible that a lot of
trans women are "like me" even if I don't have direct access to their
experiences, and "A Hill of Validity in Defense of Meaning", about my
remaining grudge against the "rationalist" "community".
Momentum is the key! After showering, I made sure to do a block of
Mnemonsyne reviews (I'm so far behind!) and then two writing
blocks—and even if it wasn't very much net text, I think it's set the
psychological context for the day, such that I'm allowed to reward
myself with Starbucks now (rather than foolishly putting that first).

This can't just sit in development purgatory forver—every work is
necessary bound to a point in time. (The everything-is-a-vector-space
thing is already obsolete thanks to Swentworth!) I think I've cut my
TODO list down to five items—and anything I missed can be booted to
Part 2—for which I realized I can finally use the "Dangerous Idea
... Lucid Crossdreamer" title that I've had stockpiled for four years.

I wanted to get it all in one package so I could just be done with the
Category War and walk away, but the second part is just too hard to
finish in a timely manner. (There are emotional and cognitive barriers
to convincingly making the AGP-truther case and the case against the
"rationalists"—and I have to get it right and be convincing for it to
have any chance of working.) But I'll feel a little better if I at
least get the first part out, which is a lot easier. (I'm just
exposing my own jizz-soaked laundry, rather than prosecuting anyone
else.)

processing link, it says "The source document does not have a link to
the target URL". But it does too—why couldn't it detect my link? (Is

And then after all that waiting and failing (while my site was down),
it crashed without writing the cache file (to prevent it from
re-trying all that again on next publication), apparently because I
hadn't already created the cache directory—

Site is down after Pelican upgrade. From the error message, the
StackOvermind (https://stackoverflow.com/a/57479744) suggests that the
Markdown library needs a bump, too. (Um, should I be doing anything
about all the other packages? I can see why people like even Pipenv,
if the alternative is a flat requirements.txt ...)
We also got a warning from nuPelican about %-formatting in one
setting.
A friend of the blog points out that "gender" is a recent (and
dubious) innovation, so the Genesis riff gets cut.
I probably don't need to explain the pronouns discussion; it's not
central.
I'd schedule it to auto-publish on a future morning now, but I
actually want to use this to test the Pelican pingback plugin, and I
want to do that manually so I can attend if the plugin doesn't work as
expected. (Don't want to publish now because I just pushed the
Decision Child linkpost.)
(This isn't important, but while I'm struggling with "Sexual
Dimorphism", it's better to stay active by pushing content out the
door; publishing stray thoughts is free (it's what my secret blog is
for) and I have no obligation to reply to comments.)
Why am I having so much trouble today?—running out of steam? I don't
feel motivated to carefully summarize the Will Powers affair?—maybe
that section is long enough. (I need to say more than I have
previously about why I think everyone is lying about AGP, but maybe
this post doesn't have to be super-exhaustive?) The function of a blog
is to be able to split writing into smaller chunks that can be
published in smaller units, rather than having to get a whole book
right on the first try; a mini-book-like megapost might be making a
bad trade-off.
"Sexual Dimorphism" Sunday opening drafting session with Dr. Will Powers
I want to go buy coffee, but I had to tap out these hundred words
first (which will need some editing—that "(who wanted [...] whom he
denied" passage is a trainwreck of clauses) to prove that I'm
psychologically fit to write today! Not to waste the day on Twitter,
but to write! I deserve this.
This one is kind of all over the place—I built up an involved thread
of language nerdery that I just drop on the floor after using it to
introduce my interlocutor's comment. I'm tempted to keep it like this,
but—I should probably cut the detailed pronoun discussion, huh? (It
could be deposited into a different post.)
How do I get so lost in a Twitter gutter? I really want to finish
this! And I was supposed to do some dayjob work even though it's
President's Day. Well ... 1730 to 2130 is four hours. You can do a lot
in four hours, if you actually try. Let's try! Let's prove it's
possible to try!
