From 13d2da8be8504713d190920a091dc14191cef545 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "M. Taylor Saotome-Westlake" Date: Fri, 22 Jul 2022 08:37:40 -0700 Subject: [PATCH] check in from blob day ... and a half Okay, yesterday I picked up my car from the shop and bought groceries, and then just hung out all day. (It took a bit longer to turn off the phone and laptop, even if I pulled the desktop network cable in the morning.) But today, and tomorrow, and Sunday is time to do a lot of memoiring! I got an "Electric 8's" lotto scratcher with 15 boxes on the play area. 15 writing blocks between today and tomorrow? (Scratch a box after a work block, to tell your brain you're on the right track to riches.) My behavior from Sunday the 17th suggests that should be an eminently achievable goal. ... and then today, I still, just, didn't want to get started. I played Solitaire and turned on my phone to play Super Auto Pets. But now the phone is off! Those 15 boxes are still in sight (7 today, 8 tomorrow, and then I will bask in feeling like a person, feeling like an agent, deserving dessert). --- content/drafts/book-review-johnny-the-walrus.md | 9 +++++++++ content/drafts/reducing-bias-and-improving-safety.md | 5 ++++- notes/a-hill-of-validity-sections.md | 4 ++++ notes/post_ideas.txt | 2 -- 4 files changed, 17 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) create mode 100644 content/drafts/book-review-johnny-the-walrus.md diff --git a/content/drafts/book-review-johnny-the-walrus.md b/content/drafts/book-review-johnny-the-walrus.md new file mode 100644 index 0000000..e056d6b --- /dev/null +++ b/content/drafts/book-review-johnny-the-walrus.md @@ -0,0 +1,9 @@ +Title: Book Review: Matt Walsh's Johnny the Walrus +Date: 2021-05-15 05:00 +Category: commentary +Tags: natalism, review (book) +Status: draft + +This is a terrible children's book that could have been great if the author could have just _pretended to be subtle_. + +Our protagonist, Johnny, is a kid who loves to play make-believe. diff --git a/content/drafts/reducing-bias-and-improving-safety.md b/content/drafts/reducing-bias-and-improving-safety.md index 3cbcc7d..37be4ad 100644 --- a/content/drafts/reducing-bias-and-improving-safety.md +++ b/content/drafts/reducing-bias-and-improving-safety.md @@ -6,7 +6,7 @@ Status: draft https://openai.com/blog/reducing-bias-and-improving-safety-in-dall-e-2/ -> Today, we are implementing a new technique so that DALL·E generates images of people that more accurately reflect the diversity of the world’s population.
