  28 In a purely descriptive sense, this would seem to qualify as "hate speech"—expressing antipathy for a group of people on the basis of sexual orientation. But if so, I count it as evidence for the case that, contrary to popular belief, hate speech _is_ free speech (that is, you can't just exclude "hate" without any substantive ideas): from the standpoint of women [fighting a Total Culture War](/2020/Feb/if-in-some-smothering-dreams-you-too-could-pace/) to protect single-sex spaces and the very concept of womanhood itself, it makes _perfect sense_ to demonize the demographic that is, _in fact_, collectively responsible for your woes. (In a world where autogynephilia as a psychological phenomenon didn't exist "but everything else was the same", there would be no reason for a special "gender-critical" resistance strain of feminism to exist; androphilic MtF transsexuals mostly just don't cause problems.)

  30 Just because it _makes sense_ for some people to hate (given the situation they're in) doesn't mean the situation itself isn't sad, on multiple levels. [I think autogynephilia is a _better explanation_ than "gender identity" for people like me](/2021/May/sexual-dimorphism-in-the-sequences-in-relation-to-my-gender-problems/)—while I haven't transitioned, I'm obviously _the type_ that would have, had I been born five years later—and I think it's sad most of the people who use  [_the word for the thing_](/2017/Feb/a-beacon-through-the-darkness-or-getting-it-right-the-first-time/) are ... people who hate us. (Never smile at an autogynephile! Never even meet his eye or stay to talk a while! Please be rude and always mock!)
